Greetings, internets!

Enough smalltalk, here’s the news:

  • www.melindafarrar.com has had a small facelift. That website is now an illustrated portal with links to all the places you can find things I do and make. Check it out.
  • My art page on patreon.com is going well. I have posted several patron-supported pieces, sent out hand-printed cards and art to all those who signed up in August, and I am posting new art this month. If you haven’t checked out what’s happening over at Patron, it’s pretty cool. Definitely check it out if you’re interested in supporting an independent artist and getting original artwork mailed to you in return. Click here.
  • I’ve got a few extra-handmade cards up on Etsy. I say “extra-handmade” because in addition to being letterpressed, they have either been colored with watercolors or hand-stitched with thread. Check ’em out here:

  • And, finally, here is a photo of two friends hanging out in my art studio. Miss Cloud and Tiny Robot #1. (polyfill, paper, sculpey, wire, love)
Insert technology joke about "the cloud" here, maybe.

Letterpress is such a labor-intensive endeavor, but the result is something unique. And I love making things that are unique.

I have several new designs for sale up on ETSY right now. If you feel so inclined, please check them out! Essentially all my cards are tiny, mailable, original art prints. I love to imagine each card traveling through the mail and brightening someone’s day, which sounds really cheesy now that I’ve typed that though out in actual words. Sheesh.

Along with new greeting cards, I’ve taken a stack of old vintage record albums and deconstructed them. The cardboard and paper inside some of the albums has been repurposed into postcard-type cards and envelopes for something new: quick, mad-libby, customizable form letters.

I made a small amount of handmade envelopes. Future batches will just have regular envelopes made from recycled paper. 3-packs of these are available on ETSY.

My big goal was to get at least one design out at the end of April that would be good for Mother’s Day. If nothing else, buy this card and send it to your mom to thank her profusely for changing your poopy diapers all those years ago.

And, if you’re curious, here’s what my assistant has to say about it all at Bea’s Dog Blog.

I’m just checking something off my to-do list that has been neglected for the last 2 months: paint the last two frogs and finish the set.

And so here they are. My frogs. I made them with sculpey and acrylic paint. I hope you find them ribbiting.

I’m on Pinterest now. [click here] Go follow! Pin! Re-pin! Tell the WORLD!

Also, I have restocked OLD 55 with more letterpressed Moleskines (–after they sold out yesterday. Huzzah!). If you live in LA and want to grab one, go there and check ’em out. Also, as of today, there are only 2 left on Etsy.

I have plans to print more, but am waiting on materials.

Have a beautiful weekend. I’m foregoing chocolate bunnies and just sticking with my chocolate poodle. What she lacks in edibility, she makes up for with charm and adorableness. And she has cute little bear paws.

Aaaaand, here’s the latest! I’ve designed a plate and pressed the covers of some small Moleskine cahier notebooks. I think they came out rather well.

If you’re in the greater Los Angeles area, you can pick one up at Old 55 in Eagle Rock.

You can also buy them online at Etsy.

I only printed a handful of them. But hopefully they will sell, and I’ll have a reason to print some more.

My other blog...

I know it seems quiet around here– but that’s just because I’m bad about updating stuff online. Offline, we are busy bees. Below are two snapshots of how we spent our day. My poodle-y assistant and I pressed a limited run of something new that I hope folks might be into: little letterpressed Moleskines. (The 2nd photo below is of the backs of the notebooks. The front will be revealed tomorrow!)
