Issue #1

Allow me to introduce you to the latest project.

“Pee Wee Hermit: a mini zine of pictorialization and rumination”

This is the first official zine I’ve ever made. It will not be my last zine. But it will be the last first zine.

The best part: you can own one!

Have a nice day!

Peace, Love, Felt

I am enjoying being a needle-felting novice. Here is my improvised planet Earth getting a heart-felt hug.

The Felt Lebowski

Since the advent of social media (read: facebook) in my life over the last half-dozen years, I find I cannot (or, rather, will not) with consistent regularity post on my trusty wordpress weblog. I may or may not have a resolution to try and change that in 2014.

Here is a snapshot of my first piece of the new year.

The Felt Lebowski

Felt Duderino, "if you're not into the whole brevity thing."

Felt Duderino, “if you’re not into the whole brevity thing.”

He’s an improvised needle-felt endeavor, and he’s still a bit of a work in progress. But I finally got hands, feet, and clothes on him. So he’s in decent enough shape for me to take a pic, feel accomplished, and gently place him on the backburner for now.

Family and friends find him creepy. Rightly so. He’s a tiny human figure made out of wool. He might look cooler with some sun glasses. I’ll keep an eye out for a pair.

Happy New Year! Let’s make more art.

Hello Monday

A few new art pieces from September can be found here.

October holds promise.

News & Friendship

Greetings, internets!

Enough smalltalk, here’s the news:

  • www.melindafarrar.com has had a small facelift. That website is now an illustrated portal with links to all the places you can find things I do and make. Check it out.
  • My art page on patreon.com is going well. I have posted several patron-supported pieces, sent out hand-printed cards and art to all those who signed up in August, and I am posting new art this month. If you haven’t checked out what’s happening over at Patron, it’s pretty cool. Definitely check it out if you’re interested in supporting an independent artist and getting original artwork mailed to you in return. Click here.
  • I’ve got a few extra-handmade cards up on Etsy. I say “extra-handmade” because in addition to being letterpressed, they have either been colored with watercolors or hand-stitched with thread. Check ’em out here:

  • And, finally, here is a photo of two friends hanging out in my art studio. Miss Cloud and Tiny Robot #1. (polyfill, paper, sculpey, wire, love)
Insert technology joke about "the cloud" here, maybe.
